Walking into a Better version of Myself: A Journey from Daily 3kms walk to a 10km Run!

They say consistency beats intensity and I’ve experienced this first-hand over the past few months. For years, I occasionally took part in 5K runs, usually as one-off events for fun or motivation. But I never really followed a consistent prep routine.

That changed recently!

What started as a simple habit of daily walks - clocking around 5,000 steps a day and aiming for a weekly target of 35,000, gradually evolved into something more powerful. It became a part of my rhythm, mental reset, and a small commitment to myself - helping me build endurance, clear my head, and stay active even on packed workdays.

Fast forward to this July, I took it up a notch and signed up for a 10K running event at Cubbon Park, Bengaluru. As the day approached, I could feel the mix of excitement and nervous energy building up. On race day, I joined a crowd of 500+ runners across categories like 3K, 5K, and 10K - all gathered before sunrise, warming up with energy, adrenaline, and smiles. The 10K run was more than a physical challenge - it was about showing up, staying steady, and enjoying the journey one step at a time.

With every kilometer, I was reminded of the daily effort it took to prepare for this. And crossing the finish line with pride, posing at the photo booth with the finisher medal, made it all worthwhile.

But this isn’t the end -> it’s the beginning of stepping up!

This experience pushed me further. I’ve now raised my weekly goal to 50,000 steps, and in July alone, I clocked over 210,000+ steps - the highest I’ve ever done in a month.

🏅 From 3K walks to 10K finish line - this journey reminded me that small daily progress adds up to something bigger.

And that showing up for yourself daily is the real win! :)
